Paulina Sierra Producer & Director | Yxta Maya Murray Assistant Producer, Fieldwork (2025)
Fieldwork is the second part of a project that started in 2024 that was set to gather the stories of Latino farmworkers in the San Joaquin Valley. What emerged, were mostly the hardships of their day to day risks (harassment, extreme weather, abuses, exposure to pesticides and physical exhaustion. Additional to these narratives, what surfaced were the stories of not heroes, but rather, ordinary individuals who work extremely hard, aspire to better living conditions for their loved ones, and embody resilience. They teach us how to hold on to life with everything we have—because, in the end, everything is possible.
Thanks to Rocio Madrigal, community outreach coordinator for the Central California Environmental Justice Network, serving as our liaison, none of this would have been possible. To all the wonderful people whose names are withheld today, in hopes for a better future: Rosalba, Guadalupe, Primitivo, Irma, Lorenzo and Milton, Matías, Verónica, Arcelia, Raquel, Ma. Dolores, Araceli and Blanca.
